Dr Erlich Sem is a private specialist. He does not bulk bill. Full payment is required on the day and you will receive some money back from Medicare (if applicable).

Dr Erlich Sem will be your surgeon. He does not delegate his surgeries to other doctors. He will be assisted by his regular surgical assistants, but they will not perform the surgery.

Dr Erlich Sem will triage your referral and allocate the appointment accordingly. In most cases, his patients will be seen within one month. If surgery is needed, the waiting time should be less than one month. The exception is when a combined surgery is planned with other specialty, for example a colorectal surgeon, then it may take a little longer.

Dr Erlich Sem only uses Gap Cover for certain procedures, usually minor, and also depending on your health fund/ insurance. For the most part, his fees are based on Australian Medical Association Schedule of Fees, which what Medicare rebates should have been if it was appropriately indexed. There will a be a difference between AMA Schedule of Fees and Medicare rebates, which is called a “gap”.

Prior to your surgery, you will be given detailed quotations for the proposed surgery.
